Powering sustainable land stewardship through rigorous quantification tools
World-class ecosystem models and critical land management data to support sustainable agriculture.
Our history
A journey of collaboration
Built on more than 40 years of modeling science at Colorado State University, LandEngine launched in Summer 2024 to address a need shared by academia, non-profits, and industry: unified access to the models and data that inform sustainable land stewardship. In the two years since, a growing membership of over 30 institutions across six countries has joined to support the shared groundwork behind credible, quantified land management impacts and to advance agroecosystem tools.
Our vision
Building trust for climate mitigation
By bringing together a diverse community of stakeholders, we build trust in ecosystem modeling tools and enable their effective use to advance a data-driven approach to sustainable agriculture.
Our mission
How we advance ecosystem science
- Connect
- Connect researchers and industry with cutting-edge ecosystem modeling tools and foundational datasets.
- Accelerate
- Accelerate the development of next-generation ecosystem modeling frameworks.
- Quantify
- Enable scientifically rigorous accounting of soil carbon stocks and greenhouse gas fluxes.
